How do I know if Reiki is working? For one, there may be a change in attitude and new perspectives. For another, there may be a change in your current health. Reiki often brings to the surface truths we have hidden from ourselves. Reiki bypasses the symptom and goes to the cause. It illuminates the truth. Trust the divine process.

What makes Reiki unique? Reiki is a healing modality that works on many levels of a person’s being. The flow of Reiki energy is directed by the recipient, not by the practitioner. Every Reiki experience is different; you change constantly as does your experience. Reiki works in concert with and is complementary to other healing modalities. This is your healing and you always have the choice of what, when and how you choose to heal.

Can anyone learn Reiki?  Yes, it is simple to learn and can be taught to anyone over 6 years of age. Reiki is simple, easy, effective and safe. Reiki allows everyone to connect with this unlimited energy and to transmit it through the hands, to themselves and others, creating the space for improved health and enhanced quality of life. In fact, Reiki may speed up the physical and emotional healing process. Reiki is most effective when the individual you are helping is a willing participant in his or her own healing process.

What is a Reiki Session?  Reiki can be received via two methods: either hands-on or a Reiki II (Absent Healing).  For hands-on, the client lays on a massage table while the practitioner places their hands in strategic positions on the clients fully clothed body. The positions cover the head, torso, legs and back.  Depending on the circumstances and health condition of the client, Reiki can also be received while in a chair or in a hospital bed.

How long does a Reiki session last? The average length of a session runs somewhere between 50 minutes to an hour and a half.  Each Reiki session is different, based on the needs of the client and the energy he/she is pulling through during the session.  The practitioners at USUI Reiki Center are trained to listen to their hands and to continue working with the client until the energy pulling ceases.  This varies from one patient to the next and is accelerated if more than one practitioner is working on a client.

What can one do if they cannot receive a Reiki in person? One can receive a Reiki II Absent Healing.  A Reiki II practitioner is trained to facilitate an Absentee Healing session by utilizing a picture.  To complete a person’s Reiki II we must have: (1) her/his permission (2) a photograph that clearly shows her/his eyes and (3) her/his full name.  For those in need, send a photograph of the person requiring the healing with the name clearly printed on the reverse. If the person is shown in a group photo, please identify her/him (e.g. man in red shirt, second on left) again, printing name on reverse. Include a stamped, self-addressed envelope for return of notes and photograph to the person for whom the healing was done.  Please make any check donations for the service payable to Usui Reiki Center and mail to P.O. Box 41606, Santa Barbara, CA  93140-1606.

After Reiki training, what support is available? The USUI Reiki Center has regular meetings: 1) to provide Reiki practitioners with an opportunity to practice Reiki; 2) to further the students understanding of the Reiki teaching; and 3) to give practitioners an opportunity to have their questions answers.

Can I volunteer? Yes, we are always looking for Reiki practitioners willing to be of service to our community .

How much does the Usui Reiki Center charge for a Reiki Session? It is our practice to allow our clients to place a value on their healing and to make a donation to the Center accordingly. Our clients have a choice about their donation. The philosophy of the USUI Reiki Center is healing and empowerment and is not predicated upon a client’s ability to make a donation.

How much does a Reiki session cost?  Universally speaking, the cost of a Reiki session is comparable to that of receiving a massage. Commercially (in California) massages average:

* $45.for a 30 Minute Session

* $75 for a 60 Minute Full Body Session

* $125 for a 90 Minute Session

* $150 for a 60 minute ‘Two-Person Team’ Session

May I receive Reiki at the USUI Reiki Center if I am in a position where I am not able to make a donation?  Absolutely, our Center and its practitioners are dedicated to be of service regardless of whether a donation is made to the Center.  We render our services regardless of monetary consideration
